August 1, 2020 – Guided Public Tour | 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Learn about the history of this longtime homestead, founded by the Austrian Schweiger brothers in 1874. Today, the Schweiger Ranch is owned and operated by Schweiger Ranch Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit, and a protected Douglas County historic landmark. The historic restoration of the ranch house and buildings was completed in 2016. See restorations of the farmhouse, barn and other structures, and learn about the history of the ranch.

Schweiger Ranch is following all State and County Heath guidelines.  Face masks and health screenings are required to participate.

August 15, 2020 – Plants & Grasses of Schweiger Ranch Nature Hike | 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Join Schweiger Ranch Foundation and South Suburban Parks & Recreation District naturalist for a guided walking tour of Schweiger Ranch.  Discover the types of grasses found around the ranch, birds, plants and learn about the human impact on the land.

August 15, 2020 – Campfire Series: Buffalo Bill Experience | 6:30-8:00 pm

Join us for a night of fireside entertainment under the stars and learn about the life of the legendary western figure Buffalo Bill Cody.   “Buffalo Bill” Cody looks back on a life full of adventure, gathering legendary friends along the way, like Wild Bill, Annie Oakley, Sitting Bull, Kit Carson, Custer and more, in a memorable evening of history, humor and little-known anecdotes that will still tie his life to ours today.

October – Lone Tree Fall Festival

The Lone Tree Fall Festival at Schweiger Ranch is full of all the things you love about fall.  Scarecrow decorating, hay rides, petting zoo and a pumpkin patch will delight the whole family.  Our guided tour of the historical Schweiger Ranch will offer surprising insights into RidgeGate’s roots dating back to the 19th century.  There’s something festive for everyone in your family, compliments of the RidgeGate community and the City of Lone Tree.

Annual Austrian Christmas & Christkindl Market

The Schweiger Ranch Austrian Christmas & Christkindl Market celebrates the cultural heritage of the Austrian brothers who homesteaded Schweiger Ranch in 1874. There will be fun for the whole family! Visit Santa Claus and his real reindeer, have your face painted, enjoy story time and crafts making, or take a horse drawn carriage ride. There will be giveaway baskets, wreath making workshops for the adults (for purchase), an Austrian band, Austrian food and a free cup of hot cocoa or cider to keep you cozy. Stop by the Christkindl Market for presents that will add a local handcrafted touch to your gift giving. The event culminates with the awe and wonder of the annual holiday tree lighting.

Schweiger Ranch Holiday Display of Lights

Come and enjoy the display of holiday lights at Schweiger Ranch daily from 5:00-8:00 pm beginning December 5, 2020.
