Nonprofits rely on the generosity of their volunteers. We are grateful to our volunteers who donate their time to help preserve and bring to life a piece of Douglas County history. If you are interested in volunteering at the ranch here are few areas of need:
We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers to not only tour the public through the building but to tell the Schweiger story.
Do you enjoying dressing up and showing off your crafting, blacksmith or ranching skills? We are looking for volunteers who would like to educate children and adults on what it was like to live out on the range during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.
Education and Special Event Volunteers:
General volunteers needed to help facilitate educational programs during the week and during special events.
Grounds and Building Volunteers:
Every ranch has chores. Do you enjoy being outside in the sunshine? We are looking for volunteers to help us around the yard including weed mitigation, sweeping out the barn, mowing and general clean up tasks.
We currently only have chickens and a peacock but would like to add to our animal exhibits. In order to expand into animal husbandry, we are looking for a dedicated volunteer ranch manager/coordinator. Experience is ranching and care of livestock is a must. Responsibilities include feeding, watering and general care of the animals.
Animal Care Volunteers:
Help the ranch manager out by lending a hand by feeding, watering, and cleaning up after the animals. For more information or to volunteer, please send us an email at [email protected] or contact Kaitlin Lamarre at [email protected]
